Eugenio Barba and Julia Varley will be visiting Malaysia for the first time. Mr. Barba will deliver a lecture after a work demonstration by Ms. Varley.

The topic of Julia Varley's work demonstration is THE DEAD BROTHER which is on how performances are made at Odin Teatret. It describes the stages of their work beginning from a poetic text to its transformation into a 'poem in space' - the perfromance. It presents the different stages of the process in which text, actor and director interact. It shows the first step where the actor begins to create her own stage presence to the last step where the text, through the form and precision of the actions, acquires rhythms and density of meaning.

Books published by ODIN and authored by Eugenio Barba will be on sale on the event day at the foyer leading to Pentas 1.
