Earth, Wind & Fire Live In Kuala Lumpur
Hardened funk and fusion music fans and music revelers in general will have an opportunity to experience, live! the music of Earth, Wind And Fire; an African American R&B band that has been taking fans on a journey of funky bliss, of unforgettable music in some of music’s renown venues. Earth, Wind and Fire have recorded eight No. 1 R&B singles and eight Double Platinums.
The tour organized by Offshore Entertainment Production and Lifestyle 7 will see the Malaysian leg debut at Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach on 3rd December, 2009.
This band formed in 1969 with over 90 million albums sold worldwide had been nominated for twenty Grammy Awards, having won six as a group with its founding members Maurice White and Philip Bailey having won two each. In 2004, Earth, Wind and Fire received the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (N.A.R.A.S.) Signature Governor’s Award. Inducted into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, Earth, Wind and Fire with original line ups featuring Philip Bailey, Verdine White and Ralph Johnson will thrill the Malaysian audience with their rendition of a rich and lively mix of African, Latin American, Funk, Soul, Pop, Rock, Jazz and an assortment of other genres.
Not only will Malaysians be treated live to some of the group’s most popular hits from their twenty three albums, such as; “Keep Your Head To The Sky”, “Love’s Holiday”, “Common Children”, “Evil”, “Shining Star”, “That’s the Way of The World”, fans may also have the opportunity to hear this Hollywood Walk of Fame group’s music featured in recent popular film hits such as Madagascar, Hitch, Caddyshack 11 and Undercover Brother.
Earth, Wind And Fire’ s forty years in the music and entertainment circuit has never seen a dull moment, they are the first African – American performers to sell out Madison Square Garden in the USA and receive the MSG Gold Ticket Award. Having received the Columbia Records Crystal Globe Award for selling the most albums internationally, they continue to rally a world wide audience with a fan base consisting of prominent political dignitaries. Early this year, they were given the honor of performing before President Obama and the First Lady at the White House Governor’s Ball. The President’s comment to Rolling Stone Magazine was that they are “rhythm and blues and pop staples for me.”
