Shooting Star (Tribute to Leslie, Danny & Paul)

This is a nostalgic Cantonese musical tribute to Leslie Cheung and Danny Chan, the two most well-loved and fondly remembered stars of Cantopop.  Shooting Stars features 40 hit songs from the two artists and highlights some of the common problems young people face these days which include drug and gambling addiction, depression, loneliness and emotional instability.  More than 45 shows of Shooting Stars were sold out in Hong Kong when it was staged for the past 2 years.

This musical is placed in an 80’s setting, giving viewers a nostalgic look into the heyday of Canto-pop.  Director Lo Chun Ho takes inspiration from the lives of the popular entertainment industry’s stars.  The plot follows the intertwined lives of three stars – Leslie Cheung Kok wing, Danny Chan Bak Keung and the popular commercial radio DJ Paul Chung Bo Law, who tragically ended their lives due to complicated life issues.
