The stars that are lined up for this very distinctive concert are Steve Chow, Michelle Pan, Chyi and Richard Lo. These household names among Chinese pop listeners in the late 80s and early 90s, shall gather and perform their famous classic melodies in the Arena of Stars.
Richard Lo is an influential Taiwanese singer-songwriter who, during the 1980s, revolutionised the Chinese pop and rock music with his melodic lyrics, love songs, and his witty social and political commentary. He is recognised as a major cultural icon in Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. What captured the hearts of a generation were his lyrics, touching on issues of life, attitudes, social responsibility and political problems.
A perennial favourite of karaoke goers, fans of Chyi will never forget to choose her "Olive Tree" on stage. Chyi's vocals has been described as the Sound of Angels among oriental regions. Besides, she is known as Taiwan's John Beaz too. Michelle Pan first stormed into the music industry in 1980. In 1988, she sang her first English single "Make No Mistake, He's Mine" with Chyi. She was nominated the "Best Female Singer" in Taiwan's Golden Melody Award. Till now, she is still active in the music industry by making appearances in few of the prominent live shows.
Steve Chow is a music producer. Now he has moved into the backstage instead of being a singer. Yet, his fans miss his songs so much, especially the classic "Na Yi Chang Feng Hua Xue Yue De Shi" and "Qing Mei Zhu Ma". The Golden Melodies Concert 2008 will bring back the golden era of the 80's.
