Mention Cantonese Opera and most people will instantly conjure up images of its colourful costumes, distinct make up, melodramatic stories as well as beautiful music. Back when TVs and DVDs were not yet available, such performances were the main form of entertainment for most people. There was something about this age-old art form that enthralled and entertained audiences year after year.

The Actors Studio through its Teater Rakyat programme will be attempting to revive the glorious days of Cantonese Opera with an on-going series. The huge success of the very first installment in 2009 paved the way for the second, third and now fourth installment this October.

Cantonese opera exponent from Hong Kong, Madam Kam, will once again lead her talented group of local performers in this special edition held in conjunction with The Actors Studio @ Lot 10's first birthday.

A Night of Cantonese Opera IV will feature eight delightful pieces spread across two sets. The first set comprises The Lu An Province ( 潞安州), Romance of the Phoenix Court (鳳閣恩仇未了情), The  Broken Sedan Chair ( 碎鑾與), Life of a Beloved Princess ( 一代天嬌) while the second set comprises White Dragon Barrier ( 白龍關), A Miracle of the Feud ( 無情寶劍有情天), Two Butterflies in Flight ( 双飞蝴蝶) and The Child of a Fairy Maiden ( 新仙姬大送子).
